Summary: add vibrance and fill light features in ImageEditor
           Product: digikam
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Image Editor
        AssignedTo: digikam-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: fabien.ubuntu gmail com

Version:            (using KDE 3.5.8)
Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages

Hi,

It would be really cool to add vibrance and "fill light" adjustements in the Image Editor, I guess with other settings in the white-balance settings (near saturation)...

What does vibrance do precisely (i.e. to implement this,
the algorithm is needed...)? Also: what is the difference to
"Editor"/"Color"/"Color effects"/"vivid"?

About "fill light" see also

IMO vibrance is just vivid - so it is already implemented.

Contrast mask is primitive simulation of plugin described in this link:

From Bug 150533.

This is what you can find in Photoshop(r) documentation:

Clarity, Saturation, and Vibrance controls in Camera Raw

You can change the color saturation (vividness or color purity) of all colors by adjusting the Clarity, Vibrance, and Saturation controls on the Basic tab.

Clarity Adds depth to an image by increasing local contrast. This setting is similar to a large-radius unsharp mask. When using this setting, it is best to zoom in to 100% or greater. To maximize the effect, increase the setting until you see halos near the edge details of the image and then reduce the setting slightly.

Vibrance Adjusts the saturation so that clipping is minimized as colors approach full saturation, changing the saturation of all lower-saturated colors with less effect on the higher-saturated colors. Vibrance also prevents skin tones from becoming oversaturated.

Saturation Adjusts the saturation of all image colors equally from ‑100 (monochrome) to +100 (double the saturation).

-----------

About "fill light", I think it's a duplicate of "backlighting". But it's something different from "contract mask" (which would also be very helpful, but maybe out of scope of a "simple" editor like digikam.

About vibrance : the vivid color effect doesn't address my feature request. You don't get the expected result, and you can't reduce the vibrance...
