http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=155124
Summary: No Simple Way to Rotate Left/Right by 90 Degrees
           Product: digikam
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Gentoo Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: digikam-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: aronparsons gmail com

Version:           0.9.3 (using KDE KDE 3.5.8)
Installed from:    Gentoo Packages
OS:                Linux

There should be "Rotate Left" and "Rotate Right" options that are easily accessible.

Rotating images in Digikam is overcomplicated.  Opening the image to edit it allows you to rotate left/right quickly, but this should be able to be done with buttons on the menu bar or by right clicking an image.  This is one of the most common tasks after importing new images from a camera, but it takes forever.

If I recall, back in the 0.8.x versions you could right click an image to do this.  I read the comments on simplifying the context menus, but something like this should exist since it is so common.  However, things like "Add to Light Table" are in the context menu that I'm sure far fewer people use. :-(

Also, the "Adjust EXIF orientation" menu entry is available under "Image", but the phrasing on the entries are weird/confusing.  To rotate the image left, you clicked "Rotated left".  That is confusing in my opinion.

Do you have kipi-plugins installed?
kipi-plugins provide JPEG loseless rotaion to main digikam window.

Luka,

For me this bug is invalid if kipi-plugins is installed.

I don't know why kipi-plugins is not installed by default if digiKam (or
another kipi host application) is installed.

==> This will reduce the case of user report invalid bug entry like this (:=)))

Achim, Angelo, and others packagers, give me your viewpoint...

Gilles Caulier

Agreed that this bug is probably invalid, but it is hard to achieve that every digikam will have also kipi-plugins installed. In case of Kubuntu, there was enough space to put digikam in default install, but not enough space on CD for kipi-plugins. :-(
This may however change for next release though.

The JPEG Lossless plugin was disabled (how, I don't know!).  Thanks for the resolution to my problem.
