OK, so the status about gphoto2 support for the  Panasonic DMC-FZ3
is not clear
(i.e. it is not listed at http://www.gphoto.org/proj/libgphoto2/support.php )
So to proceed you first have to install gphoto2 if it is not installed.
Then try the following commands and report their output:
a) connect camera, what is the output of dmesg
   (only the camera related part)
b) gphoto2 --list ports
c) gphoto2 --auto-detect -L
d) gphoto2 --abilities
e) gphoto2 --list-folders
