[Bug 150355] New: Importing folder feature imports incomplete photos

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150355
Summary: Importing folder feature imports incomplete photos
           Product: digikam
           Version: 0.9.1
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: digikam-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: tosszyx hotmail com

Version:           0.9.1 (using KDE 3.5.6, Kubuntu (feisty) 4:3.5.6-0ubuntu14.1)
Compiler:          Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.20-16-generic

I'm using an external hard disk connected via USB2.0 to my computer, from there I'm playing music, moving files to another computer and tried to import a photo folder to my computer, the import process was really fast (I was surprised) , but It seems that a lot of data was missing, almost all the pictures were incomplete (gray strips or chunks instead of the image), maybe there is an assumption that a picture is load in X time ? or that the bus is not shared ? I hope this helps to make this amazing program better :) Thank you.

p.s My computer is a Dell Inspiron PIV 2.1Ghz 1GB RAM.

uLe,

Sound like a sub-system problem. digiKam use a standard KDE kio-slave to process copy. Try konqueror to copy file from your remote HDD to your local HDD to check if it reproductible...

It might be a USB problem with your computer or gphoto2 USB traffic handling.
I have similar problems when I download from the camera directly. When I download from the same CF card but through card reader, then there are much less problems on my old computer and no problems on my new computer.
These problems are the same using gphoto2 only, has nothing to do with digikam.

I tried to reproduce the reported bug, but I was unable. Then I checked

the pictures carefully (no just thumbnails, this ones were perfectly

fine) turns out that the pictures were corrupted. I'm sorry for the

waste of time. I will double check in the future :s
