You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146908 Summary: digikam can't connect to camera in PTP mode Product: digikam Version: 0.9.1 Platform: SuSE RPMs OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: digikam-devel kde org ReportedBy: achim luecking-brothers de Version: 0.9.1 (using KDE KDE 3.5.7) Installed from: SuSE RPMs OS: Linux Using my Canon EOS 350D in PTP mode I got the following problem: The camera is recognized, but if digikam tries to connect to the camera for downloading the pictures, an error occurs, that digikam can't connect to camera. If I use gphoto2 directly from console, there ist no problem, all pictures are listed correctly. After initializing the camera from console using gphoto2 -l or gphoto -L, digikam is also able to connect and lists the pictures correctly. This is very confusing, it seems to me, that something during the initialization procedure of the camera fails, if digikam has to initialize the camera. If the camera is initialized, everything works fine. Installed libgphoto2 is 2.2.1.5.trunk-22 i586 _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

I know it seems weird, but if I recall correctly, I had to drive my 350D in PTP mode with the entry that didn't have PTP in it. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

In both cases digikam can't establish a connection to the camera. After initialization with gphoto2 -L digikam works fine again. Additionally I have to say: the connection with the camera worked fine for a long time. The problems occured after an online update last week, where the digikam packages were upgraded. Unfortunately I can't say in detail, which libraries have bee upgraded by this update. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

I suppose than you have updated libgphoto2 package too. It's certainly a bug in libgphoto2. Perhpas this one have been fixed with last stable release of the library. Try to update and test again... Arnd, i suspect this bug is fully relevant of libghoto2.
