Algorithms using Cimg library which can be used in digiKam image editor...

Gilles Caulier-4
Hi all,

Looking for new version of CImg library on project web site, i have found 2 interesting links (sorry it's in French) :

* The first one is really cool tool to colorize a black & white picture using a simple color pattern :

Review : http://www-sop.inria.fr/odyssee/team/Pierre.Kornprobst/enseignement/projetsArchive/2006-douyere-lecetre/description.html

Code : http://www-sop.inria.fr/odyssee/team/Pierre.Kornprobst/enseignement/projetsArchive/2006-douyere-lecetre/code/Vision_linux.zip

To use this code, we just need a simple widget to create color pattern over the image. The rest is similar than Restoration plugin.

* The second one is to render a picture as a comics:

Review: http://www-sop.inria.fr/odyssee/team/Pierre.Kornprobst/enseignement/projetsArchive/2006-azevedo-blackmann/description.html

Code : http://www-sop.inria.fr/odyssee/team/Pierre.Kornprobst/enseignement/projetsArchive/2006-azevedo-blackmann/code/

This one is very easy to add into ColorEffect plugin.

Cheers.

GIlles Caulier

Awesome! I've only looked at the pictures as my French is fairly rubbish
(tho' I really need to learn seeing as I go snowboarding in French
speaking countries pretty much every year!). Really quite impressive!

Brilliant!  I've always been very jealous of the "throwaway" app on OSX
called ComicLife. I've always thought that a Kipi plugin could be
created to do a ComicLife style story board (vaugly similar to calendar
plugin.... kinda)

Would you envisage these effects being available to a Kipi plugin too? I
don't really know much about CImg so just querying. :)

Col

This one is cool. It would allow not only for colouring of old images
but for creation of extra effects for new. Convert them to b&w and
colorize.

It would be good if this "widget to create color pattern over the image"
was more generous and was possible to apply other effects like blurring
in selected areas. Simple brushes :)

A plugin for digiKam image editor only, because i have writte a multithreaded CImg interface in digiKam core (CImg lib is include as well in digiKam core)
