Hi all,
In first, i hope an happy new year 2008 at all... All the best for you ! Like digiKam 0.9.3 is now released, it's time to plan next release dates. On dedicated web project page, I have added new dates : http://www.digikam.org/?q=about/releaseplan I would to have feedback from others team members if all is fine. Especially, from packagers to check if final date are sync with major linux dist release plans (Debian, Ubuntu, Suse, Mandriva, etc...) Thanks in advance Gilles _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

For Ubuntu 7.04 (Hardy), 0.9.4 schedule is just a bit too agressive. Hardy schedule [1] has BetaFreeze on March 13, which is just couple of days before proposed Beta of 0.9.4. Similary, final release is just a week before Ubuntu release, which makes it unlinkely to be in time to include it. Beta4/i18n would be prefferably before Hardy's UserInterfaceFreeze (Feb 28), but I think we can take exception here as digikam translations are primarily provided by upstream KDE (and not Ubuntu Rosetta translations). If it is possible, I would suggest to move 0.9.4 schedule for Beta4, RC and Final for at least one (better two to have some buffer) week earlier if this is fine with you, other developers and other distro packagers. from my perspective as translator i don't like that betweeen digikam 0.9.5 final release (2008-07-06) and digikam 0.10.0 final release (2008-06-29) is only one week. I would prefer two weeks between those days. From my experiences we will have a few string changes during the string freeze and with two weeks between the releases i have enough time to concentrate on 0.10.0 and have two weeks for translating and proof-reading 0.9.5 Oliver Gilles Caulier schrieb: Hi all, _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

I don't have any preferences, so all this looks fine to me. Do you have any specific plans, what to tackle for 0.9.4? Below are a couple of points, but before let me mention a few issues, which did not make it into 0.9.3: 1) Bug 145252: Umask settings used for album directory, not for image files http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145252 solved IMO, but has to be applied. 2) Bug 141730: page down/up goes to next/previous picture istead of scolling a page http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141730 (Note: Pressing CTRL-PageDown goes down by one page) Not fully solved: help needed. 3) Search using Tag Name does not work http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141037 Feedback by Marcel is needed. 4) Sharpen tool: no 100% is possible with the new zoom-tool http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=148072 (related to http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=147542) In my opinion this could be applied while the remaining bug for small images needs to be found. Now on to the bigger tasks. Things coming to my mind are: A) various bugs related to dates management - http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141014 - http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=144215 - http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142566 - and more ... B) speed-up/feed-back to users when many images are displayed (side effect of the recursive album view, in particular in combination with the quick filters) Might to some extent be related to http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151122 C) Merged display of sub-albums http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134389 (Top 6 of all votes ;-) D) These two might be not that difficult: 94562 renaming an album recreates all thumbnails http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94562 88932 add service menus functionality http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88932 E) Thumbnail generation, and preloading of images: - http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140615 - http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132047 F) Simpler management of RAW images: I still find dealing with raw images simpler in ufraw (no insult!). Some bugs related to this are: - http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142568#c4 - Which whitebalance is used http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142055 - http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142975 - http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150457 Note that in my opinion this is also related to http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125387 ("Simulate changes to images only") G) I have some issues concerning the light-table, will open a separate BKO on this later. There are a couple of other wishes with a large number of votes, but several of them are only doable with a database change, i.e. >=0.10. 2008/1/2, Arnd Baecker <[hidden email]>: Hi, Currently me and Marcel we working to backport #96388 to KDE4. The second stuff is to finalize TimeLine widget and create & new area in Date view like i explain in my blog : http://www.digikam.org/?q=node/285 Below are a couple of points, but before let me mention We will review together 2) Bug 141730: page down/up goes to next/previous picture istead of idem 3) Search using Tag Name does not work Arf, i need an aspirin to find bug (:=))) Marcel, can you give me your viewpoint ? Now on to the bigger tasks. Things coming to my mind are: We will take a look together when i will work on Date View (timeline integration) B) speed-up/feed-back to users when many images are displayed Can be complex... //----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marcel, there is a big bug somewhere in AlbumManager (or DIO class, i'm not sure). I have managed during 2 days more than 1500 RAW pictures on my main computer using digiKam for KDE3 (svn with count of item enabled). Sometimes, when i move/remove items or albums in collection (generally using drag & drop), the counts of items is not updated properlly. This is reproductible ramdomly with Physical _and_ Virtual albums... The database is not updated in fact. Restarting digiKam solve the problem... This is not relevant of changes done with patch from B.K.O 96388. I have tested with 0.9.3 witch not includes this changes, and problem exist too. There are also few B.K.O entries indirectly relevant of this subject. With count of items option enable this problem is visible immediately. I recommend you to test on your computer and give me your viewpoint...
