.xmp files created

It seems that digikam is randomly creating jpg.xmp files. I am Using 5.0.0.  In the settings/Metadata the “write to side car files” is NOT selected…. I assumed that all the Metadata would be written to the JPG file only.

Can you please advise why the .xmp file are created and how prevent this from occurring.

I think the problem is fixed in current implementation. I see some commits relevant.
Patch will be integrated in next 5.2.0 planed this week end.

No i cannot. This depend how metadata have been created: only in xmp or also in file...

Check with Exiv2 CLI tool if expected content can be found in both.
