xmp file access permission in Linux

Peter Mc Donough
Hi,

I like my originals (dng, jpg) usually set to "read only" before even
opening them in digikam. (Linux)

When digikam creates xpm files, file permission for xmp is set to
"rw-rw-rw-".

Shouldn't it be sufficient to set permission to "rw-r--r--", or is there
a reason for write access to xmp-files for all computer users?

System: opensuse 12.3, digiKam Version 3.2.0, KDE 4.10.5 "release 1

cu
Peter

I don't think Digikam forces the permissions to the created files, which my
look on my xmp files confirm. Those files have 755 permissions here and
umask gives me 0022. So please check your umask and if it's incorrect set it
accordingly.
