Hello,
Video is a very different beast than photos as long as editing is necessary. I also don't want digikam to play videos (by default) (as gwenview do), simply because video makes noise... But... I would really like to be able to *tag* videos like photos (with the same tag collection). right now it don't seems possible (just tried - openSUSE Leap 42.1 - Digikam 4.14.0 is it possible ? Is it already done for more recent version? thanks jdd |
Yes, it possible, and it's the way that video are handle by digiKam until now. The problematic is not in digiKam UI or database, but in Exiv2 which start to manage better and better video metadata take a while to be stabilized. 0.25 still have some problems, but next 0.26 will be really better, but take a while to go out... Gilles, So latest digikam is able to writers the tags to video files or not? Sorry I could not understand! I'm migrating machines and in afraid of losing all videos metadata =/ Thanks Em Sex, 21 de out de 2016 06:22, jdd <[hidden email]> escreveu: Le 21/10/2016 à 09:29, Gilles Caulier a écrit : |
In fact, to be clear, all digiKam video management is already implemented as photo since a while. digiKam is able to write in video file since 4.12.0, but... as metadata low level management is fully delegate to Exiv2, well at least 0.25 with right compilation option to support video files must be enabled. Warning, they are bugs in Exiv2 which will be fixed in 0.26. I ask to Exiv2 team to release more frequently the library but without success. All is always postboned. So i recommend to use XMP side car for read only files (this include video files in this case). In all case the video metadata in database will be store without any problem. We don't use Exiv2 to play with database. Gilles Caulier 2016-10-22 17:52 GMT+02:00 Henrique Santos Fernandes <[hidden email]>:
