Hello :-)
I, of course, use Digikam for tagging photos. It's nearly the only use I have of DigiKam, if you don't see showphoto as the same software, because of course I do most of my editing with showfoto. I do *not* manage videos with digiKam. The video workflow have little to do with the photo one. That said, I would like to have some software to tag videos as I do for photos. I know digikam can display some videos (but seemingly not flv), but may be digiKam is not the right tool for this :-). do you know some graphical software that manage video meta data? I edit my videos with kdenlive and I may be able to edit meta data there, but it's far from friendly for this thanks jdd _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
I have not any answer to your main problem but Digikam can show flv video files if your media backend support it. Usually your backend would be gstreamer (but can be something like vlc, xine etc. check your kde settings for what you use) so if you don't have the codec plugin that support flv then install the packages. Then go in to digikam settings and the MIME types. justg add flv as known movie file extension and hit ok. now digikam should display the flv video in digikam... Hope that helps some...On Thu, Jul 23, 2015 at 5:16 PM, jdd <[hidden email]> wrote: Hello :-) _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

digiKam use Exiv2 to write metadata. Since 0.24, video support have been introduced in read/write as experimental, but very bugous... Last 0.25 fix some important problem as serious crashes about video data reading. Considerate to use this release in priority with digiKam, especially with video files. This want mean that DB registration about video files will work as for photo. About Video write support it's not wrapped in an optional compilation option while all problem will be fixed. All digiKam is already ready to manage video as photo since a while, especially about DB and search tool. Exiv2 is late for that. In all cases, as for RAW files, i recommend to use XMP sidecar with video files. The metadata management from digiKam will be transparent for video as photo. This is a good question - or a good feature request :-) Was thinking about this some times already. Best. Yes and no. XMP sidecar can be written for all files in Read Only mode. This include RAW and Video. Look in Setup/Metadata config panel for details. We have a project this year, under development by a student working on GSoC 2015 to improve tunes in this metadata control panel. We will be able to set finely all settings about data to read write everywhere. Gilles Caulier 2015-07-24 9:16 GMT+02:00 Fabian Frank <[hidden email]>:
