What do I set in an image's metadata to assign a tag value, using exiftool?

To assign a tag, DigiKam sets the following fields

Categories
Tags List
Last Keyword XMP
Subject
Hierarchical Subject
Catalog Sets
Keywords

Do I set all those fields?
