searching images by tags problem

maderios
Hi
First, thanks for this new Digikam 5. Very few kde dependencies, It
takes less memory, it's a very good thing for me.
Running DK 5 on Fedora 24, I want to search images using tags. I don't
see dialog boxes (left and right) to search with tags, like it was  in
previous DK versions. Is it "normal"?
Greetings

All breeze icons and theme packages are installed on my F24 system
On an other system F23/DK 4.14, i have:
On the right a sidebar with:
properties
metadata
histogram/icc
geolocation
caption/tags
versioning
filters

On the left, another sidebar with:
albums
tags
labels
dates
timeline
search
fuzzy
map
people

On DK 5, i have only on the right, a sidebar with:
caption/tags

on the left, another sidebar with:
albums
labels
search

I installed more icon, style, etc, theme. Now I can see (poor) icons,
sidbars work. I don't want to install all kde. I think it's a kde or qt
or plasma, dependencies problem. I don't understand anything about
plasma, kde, kf5, qt5. It's confusing... I dream about a pure qt
'Digiqam' :)
The main thing for me: it works!
Thanks for this new DK5 and your answers

Windows and OSX installers include all the stuff as well.

For Linux, the packaging is delegate to Linux distor team

There are "appimage" way for Linux, but... The documentions to do it easily is just a shame from OpenSource.

As i already pass 2 full month to package installers for OSX and Windows which are really a complex puzzle to solve, do not ask me to do the same under Linux. I'm tired... packagin is not a developper task. When i package, i do not fix bugs...

I understand it's just a distro problem, not yours. Fedora-24 is new but
it's getting better and better. Now, I can use Mysql with DK 5 (external
db). For me, it works better than sqlite.

Note that i recently fixed 2 entries to improve of start up time. Here all will be faster now, as find new item is always run in background when main GUI is ready to use.

It still again some bugzilla entries to improve it, but at least 5.1.0 planed in 2 weeks will be better...

We have also triaged again bugzilla about all pending reports since a while. Result : more than 300 files have been checked and closed with 5.1.0.
