rotate images

Rainer Lay
Hi,

since I am using a rather old camera, where EXIF information about
orientation is not supported correctly, I need to rotate lots of images.
I want to change the EXIF information, store this information in the
image and rotate the image according to this information.
I have found a solution by assinging keyboard shortcuts to the rotate
actions and the "rotate image according to EXIF" action. But this
complicated, when done for many images. Is there a "one click solution"?

The action in then image processing window is unusable for this request,
since it re-ecodes jpeg images.

kind regards,
Rainer

Don't understand exactly what you are wanting to do.
My "old" camera just delivers the pics as the come from the flash card.
In digikam, I Ctrl-Click those that need (the same) rotation and press
e.g. Alt-R, which I have defined as shortcut for "rotate lossless right".
digikam then rotates them and that's it.

Re: rotate images

Hi Rüdiger,

I tried this, but when pressing this shortcut (rotate 90°), nothing
happend. When I click through the menus to this action, the picture is
rotated, but180°, i.e. 90 form the shortcut + 90° from the
menu-clicking. So it looks to me, as if the shortcut forgets to refresh
the display.

I remember that I, too, observed this behaviour with my digikam installation.
The picture IS rotated, but it is not shown in the preview.
Exactly which version are you using?
Perhaps, it was a bug with a previous version.

I am using: digikam 0.7.4 (Using KDE 3.4.0.Level "b" SUSE 9.3)

Hmm, the rotation of images is AFAIK done by the KIPI plugins.
Perhaps some problem there. I am currently not at home to check
the version of the KIPI, but anyway, I tried to install the KIPIs and
digikam from source but failed somewhere in between and gave up
after x-th unresolved dependency.

Now I am left with a mixed german/english installation and probably
with mixed versions, too. So it is not a reference installation anyway.
