rename tags

Michael Stoehrel
Hi

I store my tags in IPTC, if I rename a tag in digikam, it will only
renamed in the db not on the pictures.
This is not a big issue if it is a single tag or on the lowest tag level,
Workaround as follows:
-add the new tag
-select all pictures with the tag to be renamed
-add th new to the pictures
-remove the old from the pcitures
-delete it.

but try to rename a tag on a higher level
eg.
tagtorename/tag1
tagtorename/tag2
...

So:
My wish is, renameing a tag should rename also the tag on the pictures.
This solves the issue to move a tag in the structure, too.

Michael

This sounds related, if not the same as
- Bug 152199: Deleting tags can leave orphaned IPTC keywords inside files
  http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152199
- Bug 158713: deleted tag is not removed from IPTC keyword data
  http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158713
- Bug 159158: Tags moved in tree are duplicated in the IPTC metadata
  http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=159158
Michael, could you check and (if necessary) add any comments there
(or file a new bug report)?

Gilles, the first two sound like a duplicate?
Morever, this should have higher priority IMO, because
this can lead to information loss/inconsistent data!

Michael: to make sure that wishes/bug reports etc. don't fall
through the cracks, we extensively use the bug-tracker
(which is slightly annoying to use). This allows to
keep the relevant discussion attached to the bug,
in contrast to e-mail conversations, where the pieces get lost.
It also allows to figure out duplicates more easily
and see connections with bugs.

Best, Arnd

Yes, 152199 and 158713 are duplicates.

It sound like a bug in MetadataHub class.
