record authorship of pictures?

How do people record who took pictures?

In the Information field there's a 'Rights' record but could you search
or filter on that if you wanted to?

Otherwise I guess you might use a tag, which you could search or filter on.

Some cameras allow to do that when shooting (Canon EOS-7D for example).
Digikam displays the information but I don't find how to perform a search on this criteria. But more than 99% pictures are my own; the others I put in dedicated folders.
