read-only originals

I'd like to have my originals be read only. Turning off most parts of
the 'metadata' section in the options appears to support this.

One thing that I haven't figured out is how to adjust the display
orientation of an image without allowing digikam to re-write the
image. Is this possible?

Not yet. There is an orientation flag in digiKam DB but it's not yet
used. It still todo.

The orientation adjustement touch Exif information.
