is there a way to configure digikam to "open with" gimp or
cinepaint?  mine only seems to allow showFoto 0.7.0 which always
says "the KDE crash handler: The application showFoto (showfoto)
crashed and cuased the signal 6 (SIGABRT).

but i'd like to know the option of how to set alternate editors.
i haven't been able to figure it out using the menus or
documentation.

thanks in advance,

-rei

The entries under "Open with" are provided from KDE
(as far as I understand things).
To add applications there, you have to start
  kcontrol
go to "KDE Components"/"File Associations"
and under "jpeg" add gimp
(Using "gimp-remote-2.2 %U" under Application as command).

However, normally things like this should be set up by your
system.
Which linux distribution are you using?

Best, Arnd

Crash under showfoto have been already seen in this room. I recommend to uninstall digiKam + showfoto + DigikamImagePlugins
and reinstall the most recent version ( 0.9.3) of digiKam in your computer. Sound like a packaging problem...

Yes this is the right way

Yes, under Mandriva 2008.0 for ex. all is set properly and automatically.

Arnd, this subject about "how to set Open With application" in pop-up menu is a recurrent question that i seen in this room. This can be another entry in web site FAQ...

Best

Gilles
