Hello -
I have been using Digikam for years and it all went fine. I recently upgraded to version 5 and now, when I try to edit metadata for xcf files, the dialogue is completely greyed out. Am I missing something in the new configuration? I have already enabled metadata to be saved and written in xmp files, and it is showing correctly on the right sidebar, but it cannot be edited. Any suggestions? Many thanks, Flavio |
This is a problem already reported to bugzilla. Metadata Editor do not yet support all settings from digiKam. Remember this tool was an old kipiplugins moved to digiKam core. Note : the previous version of this tool as plugin was not able to edit XCF + sidecar metadata properly. Gilles Caulier 2016-10-08 23:30 GMT+02:00 Flavio Cardone <[hidden email]>: Hello - |
Thanks for the fast answer. I thought by keeping all metadata in the XMP
it would be possible to edit it with Digikam - I remember it wouldn't write it directly in the image even before. But what happens then if I edit - say with vim - the XMP file and change the creation date of an image? Will that be overwritten from the database at some point? If anyone else is interested, it does work, I can edit the creation date
with a text editor and it stays. Now, considering Digikam already creates XMP files on its own and it able to write the geolocation to them, perhaps editing some of these attributes could be made directly by Digikam in the future, without using the full metadata editor plugin (which IMHO should still be able to edit XMP files as they are format-independent).
