ideas...

Bugzilla from rockprinzess@gmail.com
hi all,

i've just joined the digikam mailing list, and wanted to contribute or discuss
some new ideas. I don't know whether this is the right place, or if i should
join the kipi mailinglist group.

I've found some really nice plugins for GIMP, and thought they'd be very
useful for Digikam/Showfoto as well.

The plugins are called "Color Temperature" and "Lomography".

The Color Temperature plugin can be downloaded here:
http://www.dealfaro.com/home/code/colortemp.html

It can be used to correct the red color cast of photos taken under
incandescent light with the camera on daylight setting, or to correct the
blue cast of outdoor photos taken in overcast conditions. The color
conversions are based on black-body colors at various temperatures, and are
performed in the sRGB color space.

And the "Lomography" Plugin can be downloaded from here:
http://inphotos.org/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/gimplomo.scm

More of it here:
http://inphotos.org/gimp-lomo-plugin/

I don't know if these can be adopted to Digikam in one way or another?!

But I thought I would post them to start a discussion.

What do you think?

best wishes,
Theresa

Sound like current White Balance plugin...

Lomo effect is to add vignetting to an image.

The current plugin Anti-vignetting is dedicated to remove this effect,
but the algorithm can be used to add Vignetting (:=))). There is just
few settings limit to remove.

Best

Re: ideas...

Lawrence Plug
Modifying the antivignette tool so one can also _add_ vignetting
would be a nice addition. The first time I tried it, that was my
expectation especially since it is called 'vignetting' without
the 'anti' :-)

the antivignetting tool currently permits negative radii. why?

Is this, or negative density, the setting to allow vignetting?

cheers
Lawrence

Thanks for all the speedy replies, especially to Gilles.

I've tried the Anti-vignetting plugin in Digikam, but it's not quite what I want. I think i'll stick to the Lomo plugin for Gimp.

The white balance plugin in Digikam looks better than the Color Temperature one for Gimp, so I might be using that in future! Thanks for the good advice!

Also, on another note, I've found this on the digikam website:

Pictures samples

We need some sample files produced by recent digital cameras, especially RAW and JPEG files from different manufacturers (like Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Sigma and so on).

With these files, we'll be able to look at metadatas (Marker-Notes) embedded in the files to improve their support in digiKam (via the exiv2 library).

We also need sample files produced by all kind of applications (including other OS and proprietary softwares like photoshop) that include IPTC/XMP metadata. It's to ensure compatibility with other tools and to test the new automatic import of these datas in the digiKam database (comments and tags update and so on).

Let me know if you still need sample files, I have a Olympus camera.

cheers,

Theresa
