OK, with latest svn code (KDE3 branch) I was able to get nice results.
Still:

a) not on defaults (had to use Highlights Rebuild, Level 6, plus some
  curve work)
b) RawTherapee has better sharpness, it is very easy to "oversharp"
  images in digiKam - ugly artefacts are becoming visible

Alex Tutubalin from LibRaw project is in contact with RawTherapee team.

As libkdcraw is now fully ported to LibRaw, can you feel what will be the future (:=))) ?

dcraw is not the uniq demosaicing interpolation algorithm, and in the future, more sharpening code will be implemented.
