download raw pictures

Hi list,

if just compiled version 0.8.1 - it's great!
Connected my digikam and tried to download the
pictures. Digikam downloads only the jpg files.
Is there any possibility to download jpg and/or
raw files?

Have you and USB mass storage camera or Gphoto camera ?

USB mass storage camera support RAW file to download. You need to set your RAW
file extensions in MIME setup dialog and you will see RAW file thumbs in
digiKam camera interface

        I have checked the mime type settings, *.mrw for Minolta raw files is
included in the raw file mimes, but the download dialog does not show them.
If I downlaod the raw files manually, I see them in the album.

Ok. Are you sure to use 0.8.1. In this release, i have add RAW file thumbnails
support on camera interface. I'm sure to have  tested it before the release.

In 0.8.0, the camera interface do not display RAW files thumbs.

Do you see MRW files in camera interface like a broken image (without
thumbnails) or there is no MRW file items visible ?

        Yes, i'm sure i have version 0.8.1 installed. But in the camera interface
only the jpg files are shown.

        No, i do not see any raw file nor broken images. With konquerer i see
the raw files and can download them.

Ok, please give me any info about the files list in your mounted camera
directory. Just mount your camera with your RAW file, and open a console :

# cd /mnt/where_your_camera_is_mounted
# ls -al

It's the same as of your Dynax 5D. With digikam there is no file shown
in the camera download viewer.

I have played a little bit around with the file names. If i rename the *.mrw
files to *.crw (Canon raw), the camera viewer shows the files, but without
preview.

Oh !!! This is want mean that the cameragui source code used to build your
digikam is uncomplete. Have you used a tarball to recompile it or a RPM ?

In all cases, can you send me the source code files used to build your
digikam :

- /digikam/utilities/cameragui/umscamera.cpp
- /digikam/utilities/cameragui/umscamera.h

The files are correct. Incredible...

For testing, please rename temporally this file :

~/.kde/share/config/digikamrc

to

~/.kde/share/config/digikamrc.old

and restart digikam, re-set your album library path, reconfigure you camera,
and try again.

I have renamed some raw files from *.mrw to the
other file extensions listed in the mime type setting
field for raw files. The only extension that is listed in
the camera download viewer is *.crw, but without a
preview picture.

Could it be the TIFF-like RAW-file problem?

When the RAW format use TIFF structures like CR2, NEF et. al. they
are handled as TIFF files and not as RAW files. Cause you use a
mass storage camera you don't work on gphoto2 level but on KDE
level when accessing the photos. Then you can enter this trap:

Not sure, because MRW files is the same between Dynax 7D and 5D. In all case
if RAW thumbnail job is failed, a broken image icon will be appear, and it's
not the case...

Per, can you put any MRW files from your camera in the web to download. I will
check it on my computer...

Here we are a screenshot about digiKam 0.8.2-svn camera gui using a local
directory to simulate a mounted camera on my computer with your MRW files...

I suspect a right acces problem in your fstab or something like that about
your mounted directory corresponding of your Dynax 7D camera...

Please check this point. Have you mounted your camera using the digiKam user
in your system ?

        It was no rights problem! I use the auto-detect function in the digikam
camera setup menu. It finds a "Mass Storage Camera", no matter whether
I connect my Dynax 7D or my card reader to the usb port. If i then open the
camera download viewer, only *.jpg files are listed with thumbnails.

When i had a look on your screenshot, i saw that you used "Mounted Camera".
So i manually selected "Mounted Camera" from the list and set the directory to
"/media/", because SuSE 10 mounts all devices to "/media/...".

Now it works fine and there are thumbnails for *.mrw files and i can download
them. Even if i use the camera in "Raw+" mode (creating *.jpg and *.raw) the
camera download viewer shows both types and downloads them.

Perhaps there is a bug in the "Mass Storage Camera" driver?
