dng images

Andreas T. Ege
Hi there,

I got the frequent problem, that after renaming raw images in the dng
format, digikam doesn't recognize them as dng or raw anymore, but thinks
they are jpg. Which keeps throwing my renamings off at times, if I
rename a bunch of dng first, and then the jpg.
It happened with digikam 1.9, and it still happens with 2.0.0-beta6.

Does anybody know anything about this? Or is it a cause for a bug report
(didn't find anything under existing bug reports)?

Re: dng images

Rinus
Do you mean that after renaming img01.dng to img01b.dng, and you set in
the filtertab MIME type to jpg, img01b.dng shows up?
or do you mean that img01b.dng shows up as img01b.jpg while there
actually exists no such file?
or did you mean anything else?

yes, that's exactly what I mean. It still is a dng, and Gimp handles it
as a normal raw. Haven't tried digikam raw converting tools on them,
though, as I usually use ufraw and/ or gimp for that.

Hi Rinus,

I've answered that mail a few days back, but I didn't get a copy of it
though thunderbird marked it as answered, so I don't know if it actually
arrived on the list. Sorry if it's a double now.

That's exactly what I meant.
Though I just realized yesterday that's not quite what happens. If I set
the filtertab to jpg, the renamed dng doesn't show up either, but it
doesn't show up as dng or raw anymore either. Where it shows up is
without filter, and if I set the filter to 'no raw images'. So digikam
does 'know' it's not a jpg, but 'thinks' it's not a raw or dng either.
It doesn't happen with all the renamed dng, though, only with a few, so
I can't reliably reproduce it. Guess I'm gonna file a bug report.
