digikam will not run on ubuntu 15.10

Digikam was installed from Ubuntu 15.10 repository, using synaptic.

error message:

digikam: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libkexiv2.so.11: undefined symbol: _ZN5Exiv213XmpProperties10registerNsERKNSt7__cxx1112basic_stringIcSt11char_traitsIcESaIcEEES8_

how to rectify this ?

It's a binary compatibility issue with Exiv2 shared library, typically due to a packaging problem. Try to update Exiv2.

It's probably an old package left over from using a PPA in 15.04. What does dpkg -l *exiv* show?

FWIW, I just installed kubuntu 15.10 last thursday, and digikam runs
without problems, without any non-default ppa's.
