Hello Daniel,
as far as I understand it you have to do the following things to merge your information into the pictures Goto Settings->Configure digiKam->MetaData Check the checkbox at 'Save image tag as "Keywords" tag (to store your tags) and 'Save image captions as embedded text' (to store your comments) and 'Save image ratings as tags' (to store your ratings) After that whenever you change the tag in the database it is written to the file to. I use Digikam 1.0.0rc since a few weeks on a linux VM with an external drive and it works very well. To store the data in the file for all the files you have already tagged you have to use the menu entry 'Write Metadata to selected files' under Image or 'Write Metadata to all files' under Tools. NOTE: The tag information is not stored in EXIF (this is more for camera specific data) but in IPTC. Hope this helps. No, full tags path are stored in XMP with KDE4 release... IPTC is just a copy but with important restrictions as no UTF-8 encoding and limited string lenght) Gilles Caulier _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Thank you for the fast reply,
it seems my DigiKam (0.10.0) is missing the crucial option :( I quote you: "To store the data in the file for all the files you have already tagged you have to use the menu entry 'Write Metadata to selected files' under Image or 'Write Metadata to all files' under Tools." I dont have these options :( So I need to update to vers. 1.0.0-rc? I have the data to do so, im just scared i'll do something wrong xD or that it'll overwrite the tags thanks again regards -------- Original-Nachricht -------- > Datum: Mon, 14 Dec 2009 14:49:15 +0100 > Von: [hidden email] > An: digiKam - Home Manage your photographs as a professional with the power of open source <[hidden email]> > Betreff: Re: [Digikam-users] digikam-users and other questions > Hello Daniel, > > as far as I understand it you have to do the following things to merge > your information into the pictures > > Goto Settings->Configure digiKam->MetaData > > Check the checkbox at 'Save image tag as "Keywords" tag (to store your > tags) and 'Save image captions as embedded text' (to store your comments) and > 'Save image ratings as tags' (to store your ratings) > > After that whenever you change the tag in the database it is written to > the file to.
