digikam "Version 3.5.0 Using KDE Development Platform 4.13.3 "  is  locking up on ubuntu system "Linux chilly 3.13.0-55-generic #92-Ubuntu SMP Sun Jun 14 18:32:20 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux" during imports.  Imports are slow then eventually the interface goes gray.

when I ran in terminal the problem seems to be SQLite:

digikam(3595)/digikam (core) Digikam::DatabaseCoreBackendPrivate::checkRetrySQLiteLockError: Database is locked. Waited 4000

the problem might have originally been a forced system reboot recently while digikam was running.

how to unlock the SQLite database?

1/ 3.5.0 is old. Please update.

2/ DB lock => you have probably a background service which use digiKam database. I know that a UPNP deamon do it. kill/remove this service will solve this issue (which is not a digiKam problem at all)
