digikam missing in IPTC software-list

Daniel Bauer-2
Hi everybody

In a small article in "visuell" (by www.piag.de) about Metadata topics I found
the the URL

http://www.iptc.org/photometadata/softwaresupportlist1.php

(list of Software supporting IPTC photo metadata standards IIM and "IPTC
Core") and saw that digiKam is not listed there. It should be, don't you
think?

In that article ITPC Managing Director Michael Steidl said, the list is made
with the details given from the software producers and that makers of
software not listed yet shall please send a short message to him:

office - at - iptc.org

to get a link to a web form, where you can enter the details.

... and a bit off topic (from the same magazine) some maybe interesting
numbers:

BVPA (Bundesverband der Pressebild-Agenturen und Bildarchive e.V.) has made a
study about the picture market in Germany 2005. According to this:

- 78% of all photos are delivered digitally to the photo agencies, only 22%
analog
- the labelling and indexing/keywording of the images is done by: 78% by the
agency, 20% by the photographer, 2% by external services
- 89% of all photos have neither been edited  nor changed or have been just
retouched and colour corrected. 11% of the photos were "heavily manipulated"
or created electronically.

Have a nice day :-)

Daniel
