digikam image editor - images too dark

Hello,
after using the image editor on a photo the edited photo is much too dark.


In this example I only added a frame to the photo, did nothing else.

Can somebody tell me, whats goning wrong?
I use digikam appimage 6.4 on ubuntu 18.04
