Hi all!
I installed digikam 2.5 on my xubuntu 12 machine. I'm
very new with Linux and would like to know if this is the correct
version and which is the last suitable version to upgrade (if any). Thank you! Antonio Angelo-- _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

$ sudo apt-get install digikam And when you know a bit more you can compile digikam yourself! []'sf.rique

Hello! I was wrong: my OS
is not Xubuntu; the exact version is$ cat /etc/os-release NAME="Ubuntu" VERSION="12.04.4 LTS, Precise Pangolin" ID=ubuntu ID_LIKE=debian PRETTY_NAME="Ubuntu precise (12.04.4 LTS)" VERSION_ID="12.04" "About" digiKam tells: Versione 2.5.0 so I suppose that version is 2.5. I executed the command sudo apt-get install digikam but it seems that I have the last version available. Can you please explain to me which advantage I have if I compile digiKam?
I am certainly interested to work with the last stable version. Thank you for the support! Bye -- Antonio _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
You can download the deb file for the latest Digikam from the website
and just install it, although you should uninstall the old version first. I am using Ubuntu Studio 14.04 which came with Digikam 3.5, but I downloaded 4.0 from the website and am now using that. I did not have to compile anything. You will probably also need to update some of the dependencies as well, again from the website check and get the latest deb files for them.
