digikam comments vs. EXIF/IPTC comments

Wojciech Jarosz
Hi all,
I just started using Digikam for the first time. So far I like it, but
there are a few things that I can't get to work.

I've read online and in the documentation that the comments field in
the Comments/Tags sidebar is supposed to sync with EXIF and IPTC
comments, but it does not do this for me. I spent a long time putting
comments in for all my images, but when I view the Metadata properties
within Konqueror the EXIF comment field is blank. Also, if I choose
Image->Metadata->Edit EXIF... within in the "Caption" tab the "User
Comment" is unchecked and blank. How do I get the comments I enter
into the Comments/Tags field to be stored in the file as well?

I am using Digikam 0.9.2 with kipi-plugins 1.4.0. On Kubuntu 7.04
using the packages from:
http://www.mpe.mpg.de/~ach/kubuntu/feisty/Pkgs.php

thanks,
-w

Hi Wojciech!
Did you check the option 'Save image comments as embedded text' in
Settings -> Configure digiKam... -> Metadata?

Cheers,
Ro

That did the trick! Though it seems weird that this isn't the default setting.

Thanks!
