digikam and albums on remote media

Hello,

I'm trying to use digiKam software for collects my photos which are on
different media: CD/DVD and hard disc.

I would like to browse a collections via thumbnails for all of cds/dvds,
but unfortunately when I'm eject dvd from PC the album
is not available and dissapearing from album lists. Is it possible to
browsing all of collections by thumbnails without
putting each remote media to drive?

From my own experience, I don't think so: collections are only available and thumbnails displayed when the device is connected (myself, I stored my main collections on external hard drives). That's probably because thumbnails are not store in Digikam database.
By the way, I don't use any CD/DVD; hard drives get cheaper as time goes on ... and picture files grow bigger in the same time, so I don't see any point to manage a huge number of CD/DVD. Besides, the notebook I take with me when travelling doesn't even have a CD/DVD reader

Unless someone more knowledgeable on this subject can provide some setting that could change this behavior, I guess you'll have to do without your collections when they are not connected.
