Embedded thumbnails are removed if you try to edit DateTimeOriginal tag value.
I can not attach files because they are too large.

Sound like a RAW file metadata problem with Exiv2.

I recommend to not enable RAW file support in metadata settings panel, and to
use XMP sidecar instead.

I have my own solution for metatags editing. I just wanted to inform you
about the problem.
