Bug ID: 368794 Summary: digiKam crashes with lossy dng image Product: digikam Version: 5.1.0 Platform: MS Windows OS: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Raw-Engine Assignee: [hidden email] Reporter: [hidden email] Hello, Im am working with digikam 5.1.0 on a windows XP system. Digikam and also ShowFoto (5.1.0) both crash when I try to open a lossy dng image. As long as I work with the embedded preview/thumbnail image only, everything is fine. But with access to the "image data" itself both crash. I cannot decide whether this happens with all lossy dng images or only with this specific one, which I found in internet and downloaded for some specific dcraw tests some years ago. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Try to edit the lossy dng image. 2. 3. Actual Results: DigiKam and ShowFoto crash. I do not see any error report on screen. Expected Results: As far as I know is dcraw able to work with lossy dng images. So digikam should atleast give en error message, in case of it is not able to work with lossy dng files. I can send the lossy dng file which has a size of about 17 MB. Where should I send it to? Thanks in advance. I check it again on Windows. Do you use determine settings for the DNG import? Maik -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. |

--- Comment #4 from herb <[hidden email]> --- Hello, Sorry for my late reply and sorry, but it is not clear to me for which setting(s) you ask. On the other hand the following additional information: Putting the *.dng image on light-table forces the XP-system to send a report about the crash in libdigikamcore.dll at 0x0018a9d0. Maybe that helps a liitle bit. Best regards Herb -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. |

--- Comment #5 from [hidden email] --- >forces the XP-system to send a report about the crash You use Windows XP ? digiKam is not compiled to support this old system. Only Win 7 and later are supported. Gilles Caulier -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. |

--- Comment #7 from herb <[hidden email]> --- Hello, thanks for your comments. It is new to me, that digiKam is not compiled to run on Win XP. digiKam 5.1.0 and also 5.2.0 run without "big problems" on XP. But I am aware to be a newby. On one hand I am sure that the crash I have reported is not a XP specific problem. On the other hand I am looking for an oppurtunity to test e.g. on a Win7 system. I am sorry, but this will take a while. Best regards Herb -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. |

--- Comment #8 from herb <[hidden email]> --- Hello, Sorry for the big delay, but it took more time than expected to get a running Win 7 system. On this Win 7 system I installed digiKam 5.2.0 and repeated all steps done on my previous XP system. The crash on XP caused by the lossy *.dng file could NOT be reproduced. All is fine. So please close this bug report. Sorry for making so much noise, but I really did not know that didiKam does not run on XP.
