This is the last component of digikam, that still depends on libkexiv instead
of libexiv. At least according to README and debian packages pull it as
dependency. If this is just an error in the README, then great, otherwise are
there plans to remove this dependency?

Well, this dependency is only need to build tests code. That all. libkipi do
need libkexiv2 library in fact.

For packaging you don't care about test code compilation.
