[digikam] [Bug 361848] New: When writing metadata to files is disabled, digikam still displays "Writing metadata to files"

            Bug ID: 361848
Summary: When writing metadata to files is disabled, digikam
still displays "Writing metadata to files"
           Product: digikam
           Version: 5.0.0
          Platform: Debian unstable
                OS: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Metadata
          Assignee: [hidden email]
          Reporter: [hidden email]

I have writing of all types of metadata disabled in the settings. When I change
tags of images, there are two progress boxes displayed at the bottom right:
"Applying metadata"
and
"Writing metadata to files"
The second one suggest that digikam is writing metadata to the files, while it
does not (I have checked that). So the behavior of digikam is correct, but the
progress bar suggest otherwise and thus creates confusion. This progress bar
should not be displayed when writing to metadata is disabled.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select some images and change tags, then apply.

Actual Results:
Two progress bars appear, one saying "Writing metadata to files".

Expected Results:
Only the progress bar "Applying metadata" or even more accurate something like
"Updating metadata in database" should be displayed.

Hi Gilles,
No, I do not see this behaviour any more. Sorry I completely forgot
about this - thanks for the reminder.
Cheers,
Simon
