[digikam] [Bug 338390] New: Easier moving of albums to other collections

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=338390

            Bug ID: 338390
Summary: Easier moving of albums to other collections
           Product: digikam
           Version: 4.2.0
          Platform: Gentoo Packages
                OS: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [hidden email]
          Reporter: [hidden email]

Hi

I have a few collections:
- photos_puragtory
- photos_raw
- photos_developed
- etc...

Each collection has hundreds of albums. When I'm done working on an album in
one of the collections, it's ready to be moved to another collection, e.g. from
"raw" to "developed". The problem is that it takes a long time to drag this
album to another collection, because I have to scroll through the hundreds of
other albums until I see the other collections. I would like to request an
option to right-click on an album and in the context menu select "Move to
collection >" and the list of collections as a submenu. Similar to the "Go to"
option in the context menu of an image, but "Move to" and it should show
collections too, not just albums.

DRSlony,

Why not to use color labels in your workflow. Like this instead to use physical
albums, you use virtual albums, and you can change Color Labels quickly using
keyboard Shortcuts.

Labels have now a dedicated tree-view for quick access, since 4.2.0.

I do use labels too, but nothing will replace a good physical folder
organization :)
I need to move physical folders from one collection to another and that's
currently time-consuming because I have to spend so much time just waiting for
the other albums to scroll by before I get to the right collection.
