Photos thumbnail correctly. Nautilus correctly thumbnails all video files. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start digikam 2. Look for video thumbnails (or run maint->thumbnailer) 3. It looks like I am getting thumbnails for most of my video files (it seems to have taken some time for them to show up), but not for the AVI (mjpeg inside) files from an old camera that I had. These AVI files play perfectly, but ffmpeg says that they contain invalid data and doesn't do anything with them. The problem seems to be with ffmpeg (or a missing codec) and not with digikam.
