Bug ID: 329975 Summary: Metadata tag is never (re-)read from image Classification: Unclassified Product: digikam Version: 3.5.0 Platform: Debian testing OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Metadata Assignee: [hidden email] Reporter: [hidden email] I have a funny problem here. My setup is that I have a laptop and a PC, and synchronise the pictures with rsync. Usually this is no problem, captions, tags, etc. get updated automatically. One time it failed though, and I have not the slightest idea why, also the next time it worked again with the newly synchronised pictures. The pictures from the one run where it did not work still do not have the added tags. I tried Album > Reread Metadata from Images. This works, BUT I cannot do this for all 600 albums as I have no idea where else I have images that are affected by this bug. Then I tried to remove and re-add the collection in the settings dialog. Digikam then scanned all images, I guess, but STILL did not update the tags on the affected images. Is all information about collections cached somewhere even when I remove it from Digikam? Finally I did Collection > Reread Metadata from Images … ah no, sorry, this does not exist anymore in this version :P I'm now going to try deleting the sqlite database because I really do need the tags now. Or rename it, for debugging purposes. Maybe there is not a way to prevent this from happening on synchronisation. But then, at least there should be an option to re-check ALL metadata without having to do some hacks. --- Comment #1 from Simon <[hidden email]> --- (Update: Moving the DB and importing the collection from scratch gladly fixed the symptom. But not the cause :) ) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

--- Comment #3 from Simon <[hidden email]> --- (In reply to comment #2) > > Finally I did Collection > Reread Metadata from Images … ah no, sorry, this does not exist anymore in this version :P > > The right menu option is Image/Reread Metadata from Image Yes, but this only re-reads the metadata for the selected images, and I don't think I want to select 34999 images. You never know if your cat hits DEL the wrong moment. > You can also use Tools/Maintenance and select collection to parse with right > metadata workflow... --- Comment #7 from Veaceslav Munteanu <[hidden email]> --- Yes, I think it can be closed, digiKam has a lot of options to re-read all metadata or to write it back. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |
