Bug ID: 324134 Summary: Images disappear after advanced rename Classification: Unclassified Product: digikam Version: 3.3.0 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: Advanced Rename Assignee: [hidden email] Reporter: [hidden email] After using advanced rename wizard renamed photos disappears from digiKam (but stays on disk) due to inconsistent database state. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create album "TestAlbum" with images "testa.jpg" and "TESTB.jpg"; 2. Select both images in digiKam and use rename tool with pattern "[file]{upper}" to make both file names uppercase. Actual Results: File "testa.jpg" is correctly renamed to "TESTA.jpg", but it disappears from digiKam. It is not visible in album, cannot be find by search etc. However, digiKam keeps indicating that there is 2 items in "TestAlbum". Maintenance tool "Scan for new images" does not restore visibility of lost photo. The reason of disappearance is that after rename lost photo lacks record in table "ImageInformation". Probably the bug is specific to MySQL database backend. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

--- Comment #7 from Larx <[hidden email]> --- More Info: Problem occured after batch renaming three pictures. After that, one pic remained, two have gone AWOL. All Pictures are still visible in ordinary file browser, they are just missing in Digikam. Strange enough, when I use Digikam's filter mode and type in the file name of the missing pictures, Digikam finds (or thinks it finds) this picture. However, the displayed pic is the one which didn't get lost after the batch rename, not the missing one. I don't know why this picture should match the filter.. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

--- Comment #8 from Larx <[hidden email]> --- It's reproducable: Batch rename seems to kick out the first picture of the renamed batch :(. No way to repair the database - I tried moving the affected folder out and in of Digikam's picture path, rescanning in between, and so on: The pictures are lost for Digikam. I gues the database has to be scrapped completely. I don't know how many photos I "lost" this way before noticing the bug. Seems to my kind of critical... and judging from above comments, it does not only affect the experimental MySQL backend. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

Maik Qualmann <[hidden email]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[hidden email] --- Comment #10 from Maik Qualmann <[hidden email]> --- Gilles, The malfunction of the description I can not reproduce. But it is possible with the renaming of one file, to remove the suffix. The file is then no longer visible in the album, and must be externally renamed again. That could be the problem. --- Comment #11 from Gilles Caulier <[hidden email]> --- The file extension is a very sensible feature used by digiKam to identify quickly type mime without to parse first byte of file which is time consuming. I recommend to drop file extension renaming in AdvanceRename tool to prevent all dysfunction. Note that is always possible use file manager as Dolphin, but in this case users do it with know risk. We can also put a small tips in GUI about this problem.
