However, note that there's an option of exporting taks from kphotoalbum to IPTC
saved in the picture files, which may then be loaded by other programs like
digikam.
See an example script in
http://blog.jesuislibre.org/2009/4/20/export-vos-donnees-de-kphotoalbum-vers-iptc/to perform the export (may require a translation from french :-/)
