fedora 21 beta
digikam 4.5.0 from the fedora 21 repository gnome window manager I can change the default video player in all my applications simply by setting the default program for the filetype in nautilus. This sets the default application for videos everywhere except digikam seems to insist on using totem to open my video files. Totem doesn't play m2ts video on my system (another problem). How can I get digikam to accept my system default video player? This always worked before 4.5.0 I've tried changing the gstreamer default video sink with no effect. There is no video player in digiKam. We use KDE::Phonon widget to play
video. Settings to change video back-end is located in KDE control panel, Gilles Caulier 2014-12-03 19:41 GMT+01:00 James R. After reading my first note I think I mislead you all as to what I am
trying to do. I am refering to the "preview" image display in the album view. I am able to change the default player using the F4 key and this works fine to open a movie file in an external program. What I need to know is how I can change the default viewer used in the preview panel for mp2t files. For my Sony *.mts files I add that file type name in the settings video file extensions - and DigiKam plays those internally with no problem. @Kubuntu 14.04 Christian Graesser

Try this: In the kde file association settings change the option for "embedding" for the file types in question.
