[digiKam-users] sort by date

Hi All


just wondering if I missed something, but when sorting my album by date,
the sort is done on the modification date, while I wanted to sort it by
creation date.

any suggestion ?

(I'm using 5.8.0)

Sorting is done by creation date. What for files, video, RAW or JPEG? With
sidecar files?

Hi Maik

I have an album with JPG plus some sidecar files (DOP and XMP)

and I see pictures I have updated earlier today (but with original date
from this week-end) , displayed  before original files created this week-end

are you saying that the fact there is sidecars files could impact the sort ?

hi


in fact I checked that in a folder without any sidecar files, the
sorting is correct (only jpg in the album)

but in a folder where I have RAW, sidecars files and jpg, the sort is
incorrect (even looking only at the jpg by using filter : "only jpeg")

is that normal?

I don't think it is normal but I am not sure how to catch what's wrong...

I noticed that when I export jpeg from darktable and then tag it in digikam.

Every once in a while the jpeg would show up at the end of the list.

If you keep working on your collection you will notice later that the jpeg actually has the tags you assigned and is located properly (sorted by date)

I kind of got used to it.

Hi Andrey

I noticed the same problem when exporting Jpeg from DXO, and then just selecting the picture and "read metadata again" was enough.

but here seems not enough

I encounter the same problem while exporting TIFF from darktable to digikam. In those cases (around 20% of the pictures maybe), the original date isn't properly added to the TIFF picture, but replaced by the date/time of the export. I don't know whether the problem comes from darktable or digikam, but I only modify the date in digikam (copy/paste the one from the original RAW), and everything comes back to order.

Hmmm... I'm afraid this seems like Chinese to me!

A couple of questions:

 - why does it happen 'sometimes' vs all the time?

 - is there some plan to fix it soon?
