Hi all
I'm using DK7.2 and I have a quick question on the sidecar configuration parameters what is the purpose of the option : "associated filename are compatible with commercial programm" (french translation so not sure it is exactly how it looks like) Another question behind is , is there a way to "exchange" metadata between applications for the raw files? for example if I put a 2* in DXO or lightroom, can it be visible in DK ? thanks Frederic |
Hi,
SHIFT+F1 over the option can provide guidance : https://imgur.com/8wHR15l Best Gilles Caulier Le ven. 9 avr. 2021 à 15:49, frederic chaume <[hidden email]> a écrit : > > Hi all > > I'm using DK7.2 and I have a quick question on the sidecar configuration > parameters > > what is the purpose of the option : "associated filename are compatible > with commercial programm" (french translation so not sure it is exactly > how it looks like) > > Another question behind is , is there a way to "exchange" metadata > between applications for the raw files? for example if I put a 2* in DXO > or lightroom, can it be visible in DK ? > > > thanks > > Frederic > |
Hi Gilles
my mistake, was trying with CTRL+F1 instead of SHIFT+F1 🙁 now sidecars file are named basename.xmp (instead of basename.ORF.xmp) and are recognized by DXO and Lightroom , so for example setting 2* in DK is visible in DXO and Lightroom. But the reverse seems not possible (changing the rating in DXO or lightroom , doesn't change the rating in DK (unless I missed something)) below an extract of the XMP modified by lightroom today. (initial
rating was 2 from DK, then setting rating to 3 in lightroom) acdsee:caption="Abandonné" and another update after setting rating to 4 in DK acdsee:rating="4" my understanding is that , - DK is updating "acdsee" and "xmp" fields, which are read by DXO
and Lightroom is my understanding correct ? is there a way to share the same fields ? another question: as I just set the option "associated filename are compatible with commercial programm" , all the sidecars are still named with non compatible format until I will make an update. Is there a way to create all the basename.xmp files for the complete database ?
thanks

Hi, First of all a great thank for all that have participated in the development of the latest version of digiKam! My environment: Fedora 33, Gnome 3.38. digiKam: appimage 7.2, latest official I attach a screen copy of my observation where the 'File > Properties' functionality behaves differently with grouped (by file name) images when running the appimage (same file) by different users on my computer. With the first account (left side of the picture, main account) digiKam opens a 'Selection Properties' view. Using the second account (digikam7, test account) digiKam opens a File Properties view of the first image in the group (JPG). I have tried to find a Setting for this behaviour, however without a positive result. Can somebody suggest a workaround for this. Thanks anyway in advance! Kai |
Whether when selecting grouped items it is used as a group or just the first
image has a little history in bug reports. The setting is in digiKam Setup under Miscellaneous in the Grouping tab as an option for metadata. Yes and Ask -> as a group, No -> only first image. If you haven't changed anything in the advanced metadata settings, we will read Xmp.xmp.Rating first. Check this in the advanced metadata settings, the order of the list determines the search order when reading the rating metadata. The order can easily be changed. > another question: as I just set the option "associated filename are > compatible with commercial programm" , all the sidecars are still named > with non compatible format until I will make an update. Is there a way to > create all the basename.xmp files for the complete database ? Write all metadata from the database to the images using the maintenance tool. Make sure that writing to sidecars is activated, if necessary switch to write only sidecar. Maik |
