Hi all
this morning I wanted to modify the geolocalisation of my latest pictures , and when I opened the tools I got the error message : "this page didn’t load google maps correctly" and the map is displaied with the watermark "for development purpose only" when I look at the solutions, seems we have to regenerate some API key , but not sure if it is applicable to this case I'm using 7.2RC (I'm not sure I already used the geolocalisation with this version since I installed it, but I was using it regurlaly with previous versions) thanks for any suggestion to fix it. frederic |
Hi,
Yes it's fully reproducible with current implementation, here under macOS using Qt WebEngine. Sound like Google has changed again the API to use the Maps web service. Same problem under Linux with (Qt webengine too).
There is nothing special to see on the console about Google Maps backend when I enable all debug statements. By updating our Google account, I initiated the re-checking of our API key. I
will submit the necessary information today (Google would like to have almost as much as Facebook by now) to enable our API key to be activated. Maik Am Samstag, 27. Marble and OSM is another backend for DK map views, which do not
depend of Google Maps. Ok, our Google App Key has been submitted for review. Google also needs a
YouTube video to demonstrate how digiKam works. I do not hope that it actually takes the 4-6 weeks. Maik Am Samstag, 27. Another note, the Google Photo Import or Export tool doesn't work anymore
either. Maik Am Samstag, 27. Februar 2021, 13:31:50 CET schrieben Sie: > Ok, our Google App Key has been submitted for review. Google also needs a > YouTube video to demonstrate how digiKam works. Ok, our API key has been verified and activated again by Google. This concerns
the Google Export Tool, a re-login may be necessary. But that wasn't the reason for Google Maps. With our free account on Google Maps we cracked the 28,000 map views per month. Now it's over until next month ... or we have to pay to Google ... Maik Am Samstag, 27. "cracked the 28,000 map views per month"
Except for a possible cost, that's a good problem, right? 🙂 On Sat, 2021-02-27 at 17:45 +0100, Maik Qualmann wrote:

Yes, that can also be seen positively ((:-))
One idea is that we start with the marble backend in all sidebars and map views at the start of the program in order to reduce unnecessary Google Maps access. You have to manually switch to Google Maps every time. You have to know that the 28,000 map hits for Google are the equivalent of $ 200 that they freely grant a project every month. Hi
just tested virtual marble + openstreetmap, that's an acceptable workaround (atlas mode is not usable), even if, of course, I would prefer the googlemap view. and switching from one to another is simple Regards frederic Le 27/02/2021 à 21:10, Maik Qualmann a écrit : > Yes, that can also be seen positively ((:-)) > One idea is that we start with the marble backend in all sidebars and map > views at the start of the program in order to reduce unnecessary Google Maps > access.
