[digiKam-users] mariadb digikam database update

Hi
Today, I upgraded Mariadb from 10.1.37 to last  10.3.10 then I run
mysql_upgrade.
Now, is it necessary/better to update my Digikam databases (in my case,
from xmp image metadata to database)?
I ask this question because such update takes a very very long time...

Typically no. but i hope that you backup your database before to process the upgrade ?

I often backup system and data with rsync, especially before changes.
Now, Digikam works normally with mysql 10.3.10

I'm looking at moving to mysql/mariadb on my local machine. It doesn't
work for me, dk cannot create the databases and I have a few errors.

Anybody has instructions on how to setup mysql/mariadb for dk?

I think it's better and easier to setup an external mariadb db for
digikam. First, you create it then you fill digikam dialog box with your
db data. Advantage, you can optimize db. Disadvantage, you need mariadb
server running...
