[digiKam-users] how to use G'MIC-QT ?

fch22
Hi

I have DK 6.3 installed on windows 10 , and I started to play with G'MIC-QT

So I select it in the editor, than select one filter (by the way , the
list is sometimes empty and I have to reload them), for example one
frame. the preview is fine , but when I apply it , then the result is a
black picture.  If I click on OK, the window is closing, and the reult
in the editor is still black

did I miss something ?

thanks

frederic

Hi,

Not all GMic-Qt filters are usable with digiKam, only ones which require one image as input data. As digiKam image editor do not support layers, as GMic-qt plugin as for multiple layers as input data, this will not give a good result.

Re: how to use G'MIC-QT ?

I ask in this thread cause the question subject is exactly my problem, not
about how it works (that's really the issue of the user that asked). The
fact is that I have GMIC accesible thru Krita and GIMP, but Digikam does not
show GMIC among the available plugins to enable, despite I'm using the
official OpenSUSE version from repositories. Why I have not GMIC available
in Digikam 6.3?

Thank you

Because it's an external plugin to instal. it's not included in digiKam core.

In official digiKam bundles, we package this extra plugin as well...

Re: how to use G'MIC-QT ?

I'm sorry to reply so late. I didn't receive your reply for some reason. As I
wrote, OpenSUSE, have GMIC in Krita (yes, thru the package
"krita-plugin-gmic" ). Even the non official version of GIMP have someway
integrated GMIC. However, there is no official or unofficial GMIC plugin for
OpenSUSE LEAP (LTS) but for Tumbleweed version ...

Thank you
