[digiKam-users] gimp 2.10

digikam-2
DK 5.9.0 appimage on Manjaro

I just imported some gimp 2.10 image: xfc. I can't see the preview.

1. Am I missing something?
2. What about photoshop psd?

Hi,

You don't miss anything.

XCF and PSD file preview are handled by KImgIO thumbnailer plugins from KDE. Files are integrated and in application path (inside the bundle), but the plugins are not loaded at runtime, and i don't know why exactly. There is already a report in Bugzilla about this topic.

Hi
I know Kimageformats developers were waiting  for new xcf format
documentation to solve this issue.
About 1 month ago, Jehan (gimp dev) updated this documentation.
New link here:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/blob/master/devel-docs/xcf.txt

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360821

Some information from Jehan  in french:

I see you comment in linuxfr.org, that i read all days (:=))...

But there are 2 problems about XCF. The first one (mine) is to understand why KImgIO modules are not loaded at DK runtime.

The second one is about XCF version to support in module. For this one, the KDE developers need to fix code in the module, not DK.

Best
