[digiKam-users] digikam 7.0 beta face recognition questions

Bugzilla from martin.tlustos@gmail.com

Hello,

I really like the new face recognition engine, it works much better and faster. Still, I have some questions about which I could not find any answer in the documentation:

1) Right now I have about 900 faces in the "unknown" section. I select and tag a couple of them with people I know and then run the "recognize faces" operation, right? It will then try and recognize the faces according to the ones I already have in my database, right? Now the problem is, that it doesn't really do that very well... I have about 300 images with faces of my wife, but they don't get recognized as my wife. Same with me, our children, grandchildren, friends etc. I have to tag again and again and rerun the recognition process. Or am I doing something wrong?

2) what do I do with the hundreds of faces of people I don't know and don't care about? Delete them as not being faces, or leave them in the "unknown" section?

Thanks a lot for any help with these!

Cheers, Martin

Re: digikam 7.0 beta face recognition questions

Maik Qualmann
1) In principle correct. You can decrease the Face Accuracy setting (50-60) so more faces are recognized, but more can be misrecognized.

2) We already have wishes in the bug tracker to ignore faces and to exclude them from repeated detection.
