[digiKam-users] digiKam bundles switch to Exiv2 0.27

Gilles Caulier-4
Hi all users,
Just few lines about the switch under progress into al digiKAm 6.0.0 pre-release bundles.

We will use the new Exiv2 0.27 Rc1 metadata engine. Currently online, the MacOS and Linux AppImages bundles are recompile with this Exiv2 version. The Windows are a little bit problematic at linking time, but i'm sure to fix it quickly.

Remember that Exiv2 is a very important software components used by digiKam. Exiv2 read and write metadata for images and XMP sidecars (video metadata extraction is processed by ffmpeg).

Between Exiv2 0.26 and 0.27, 2 years of development separate the versions, with many improvements, fixes and changes. I pass one week to adjust the digiKam metadata engine in digiKam to work properly, and i don't see any dysfunctions under Linux.

Exiv2 0.27 is not yet release, only the Release candidate. I estimate that it's the right time to switch to this important release, but take a care, 0.27-RC is not yet the final release. bugs certainly exists.

Voilà.
