I downloaded the latest today and ran it on my openSUSE Tumbleweed 64
bit system. I do not like the fact that it does not work like V5 in that I can only single click on the image to go to a preview. In the past this had to be a double click in line with my set up in KDE, yes I can select using the text area but in my view all KDE applications must obey the system settings and I have single click to select and double click to open or activate. Also I find that if I change the setting for Thumbnail Click Action to start Image editor I now need to double click to start the Image editor, this makes no sense and is counter-intuitive. This all worked well and logically in V5 in that it needed a double click for preview or to start the editor. Please change this back so it follows the KDE settings or at least provide an option for doing this, to overrule KDE settings is not in my view acceptable. Currently digikam is the only application I have which overrules the KDE settings. One final point is that running the appimage V6 has messed up my icons in V5 and no longer uses my system settings! In order to get back my Oxygen icons I had to remove the [Icons]Theme= that V6 added back and set the Icon Theme=oxygen again. I fail to understand why a new version messes with stuff like this in the digikamrc file which should be preserved between releases. Okay, it's a shame that you do not just try for a time with the new behavior
and see if it might not be easier to work with it. I will undo the change... Maik Am Mittwoch, 12. I am not averse to having it as an option for those who like it, but I do think it is not right to have it as a the only setting or come to that set as default to override KDE settings. When you have KDE set the way I have it is completely counter-intuitive. It takes some remembering especially as I don't use digikam every day and will probably confuse some folks where every other application follows the KDE setting. @Maik, out of curiosity: is this issue related to bug #401709 (Double
clicking a name in a face-frame closes image preview)? In any case, there are the double-click freaks on one side and the single-click freaks on the other side. This sounds like a classic user-preference-flag scenario. Please do NOT undo the change! I'm the guy that asked yesterday about the single click switching to preview mode. In my opinion, you should keep it as is, but, please make a note that's where you have to click for the preview (on the thumbnail itself) and where to click for the selection (the box around the thumbnail) A webpage with all the change in the behaviour would solve the vast majority of behaviour problem. sknahT vyS > > Maik > > Am Mittwoch, 12. Sorry but I strongly disagree. This change if left as is completely makes digikam not compliant with KDE standards as I see it. At a minimum it requires this to be a user option. I have no problem with it being an option for those who like it but it is completely unacceptable to force it on everyone. I require it to be an option so that the users can chose which they want to use. How anyone can accept that preview is single click and editor is double is beyond me. Setting this as a user configurable option should in my view satisfy everyone.

@Sky Diver, your bug report is fixed.
The change has already been taken back, it was an attempt to make the workflow smoother. If you want, you can set the single click in the system settings. I do not want to build a second KDE Control Center from the digiKam settings to inflating it with additional exception options. Maik Am Mittwoch, 12. Thanks Maik.
Turns out I was looking into last week's beta3. After downloading this week's new beta3 I can confirm that the bug is fixed and the feature works as expected. This version contains the new behavior that bugs Stuart Rogers and as a long time Windows user that switched to Ubuntu, I can confirm that a single-click where a double-click is expected is indeed annoying :) I already wrote this, but I'll write it again: Having two builds with the same version tag (case in point: 6.0.0-beta3) leads to confusion. Only today I realized why my beta3 behaves differently that other people's beta3. Not sure how this could be resolved in digikam, but I am certain that this is solvable.
